From January 30 to February 2, 2022, Syntegon Technology will showcase its technologies for the production and packaging of confectionery at ProSweets in Cologne, in hall 10.1, booth H028.
Visitors will not only be able to experience sustainable packaging technologies using paper or mono-material, but also learn about our newly extended line expertise for jelly production.
Innovative turnkey solutions for jelly production
From mass production to depositing and finishing of jelly products: Visitors to the booth will get insight into Syntegon’s Makat portfolio, which has been expanded to include kitchen technology. “Bundling our process technology for jelly production under the same roof allows us to focus even more on product quality and on providing innovative solutions – both for traditional confectionery and so-called nutraceuticals enriched with vitamins or other supplements,” explains Dr. Sandra Link, Product Manager at Makat.
Besides the valuable raw materials, the kitchen is the starting point for manufacturing high-quality jellies. In this context, the Rapidsolver plays a key role in dissolving the jelly mass: The unique geometry of the mixing elements ensures a “first in, first out” principle and reduces dead spaces, resulting in a homogeneous, clear and transparent jelly mass. Just as important is gentle product handling and precise molding, both with the Mogul starch depositing system and starchless depositing solutions. After the product finishing process, the jellies can be seamlessly wrapped in different pack styles.
Makat has been providing turnkey solutions for all process steps in jelly production for over 90 years – now also including innovative kitchen technologies.

Sustainable packaging solutions for confectionery
Visitors to the booth will learn about Syntegon's broad range of sustainable pack styles for confectionery. For instance, Syntegon’s vertical baggers produce bend- and tear-resistant stand-up bags made of paper. Customers are using this technology for example to package chocolate in multipacks. "The paper stand-up bags are an environmentally friendly alternative to secondary packaging made of plastic and a real eye-catcher,” explains sales representative Oliver Maier. “The smooth structure and stability of the paper bags not only creates a special look and feel, but also highlights the quality of the packaging.” Moreover, the vertical bagger scores with its flexibility, as it can be adapted to process different packaging materials and styles. This makes it suitable for producing bags made of recyclable mono-material film in addition – at speeds of up to 60 paper or 80 mono-material bags per minute.
Visitors will also learn about the "paper-ON-form" retrofit kit for Syntegon’s horizontal wrapper portfolio. With this solution, even sensitive and fatty products such as chocolate and chocolate bars can be packaged in FSC®- and PEFC™-certified special paper containing more than 90 percent natural fibers. The retrofit kit includes a forming shoulder and sealing jaws for cold seal applications – allowing barrier papers to be processed without wrinkling or tearing, while the precision-fit cold sealing tools gently create sealing seams.
In addition to vertical baggers and horizontal flow wrappers, Syntegon also offers an innovative paper forming technology. This enables confectionery manufacturers to package their products in "Shaped Paper Pods" – for uniquely shaped packaging with a special feel and eye-catching design.
Syntegon’s secondary packaging portfolio also supports the shift to more sustainable packaging. Customers can, for example, choose between glue, lock-style or an innovative ultrasonic technology for carton forming to replace commonly used plastic trays for cookies with paper trays.
